CSC Report on Scientific Computing in Finland 2004-2005

Introduction


CSC - the Finnish IT center for science, is a non-profit organization for high-performance computing and networking in Finland. CSC is owned by the Ministry of Education. CSC provides cross-disciplinary expertise, computational resources and fast network connections for computational science and engineering.


CSC has published its fourth report focusing on the achievements of our customers in scientific computing. We have selected illustrative examples from physics and biophysics, nanoscience, chemistry, biosciences, engineering, Earth sciences, and linguistics. This report shows only a small sample of the user results: CSC has about 1500 users, who are involved in over 600 active computing projects.
