Elmer Basic Course

A basic training course in the use of Elmer will take place in May 28th in conjuction with the 2nd Elmer User Meeting. The course is intended for persons with no or little prior knowledge of Elmer but some background on the solution of partial differential equations. This course will be the first public showcase of a totally new preprocessor of Elmer. Also more experienced Elmer users interested in the new preprocessor may find the course useful.

Program

The program consists of lectures and hand-on exercices given by Elmer developers. Below is a preliminary agenda:

  • 9.00-9.30 Registration & Coffee
  • 9.30-9.40 Welcome
  • 9.40-10.00 Overview of Elmer: terminology, components, etc. (Peter Råback)
  • 10.00-11.20 Using Elmer with the new preprocessor (Mikko Lyly)
  • 11.20-11.40 Break
  • 11.40-12.20 Inside ElmerSolver (Thomas Zwinger)
  • 12.20-13.20 Lunch
  • 13.20-14.20 ElmerSolver command file (Thomas Zwinger)
  • 14.20-15.20 Using Elmer cont. (Peter Råback)
  • 15.20-15.50 Coffee Break
  • 15.50-16.30 Basic programming (Mikko Lyly)
  • 16.30-16.45 Questions & discussion

  • 35 euros + VAT (23%) for Finnish academics

Registration

Registration has expired 19.05.2008 23:55
There is a limited number of seats on the course that are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. A confirmation email will be sent to the participants about two weeks before the course. Participants can cancel their registration at latest one week before the course without extra costs. Cancellation after that is possible, but the whole course fee will be charged. Bills will be sent to the participants after the course by mail (not by email) or as an electronic bill.
