Active collaboration with national and international partners

Research infrastructures, programs, materials, databases, equipment, expertise and services – these are indispensable elements of research and also important components in international competitiveness and attraction.

We improve our services, develop new ones and strengthen our technology skills in cooperation with our customers, universities and polytechnics, research institutes and the business environment. We work to develop new service formats especially in biosciences, nanoscience, and environmental sciences.

The emphasis in development is, in particular, on software development, Grid computation and strengthening our resources in computational science.  CSC’s participation in international Grid projects means that European infrastructures are available for use by Finnish researchers. For example, the DEISA project works to combine the computing capacity of large European supercomputer centers into a massive supercomputing environment, providing extremely large computing capacity. EMBRACE is a project that integrates European bioinformatics services and enables their shared use through the Grids.

Networking - innovative exchange of experiences and gaining new collaboration partners

The challenges of globalization necessitate increased participation in various network groups. Networking increases the exchange of experiences, allows exploitation of synergies, and enhances and strengthens national and international collaboration. CSC has joined, for instance, Filosi, a network that aims to bring together expertise on Linux and to boost open source technology development.
