The Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) is pleased to announce the Summer School on Code Optimisation for Multi-Core and Intel Many Integrated Core (MIC) architecture at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre in Lugano, Switzerland. In this three day intensive event participants will focus on programming and tuning techniques for modern multi- and many-core processors with a particular focus on the Intel Many Integrated Core architecture.

The Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) and the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) have collaborated to offer the third European-U.S. Summer School on HPC Challenges in Computational Sciences. Goals of the summer school are for attending graduate students and postdoctoral students to gain greater knowledge about high performance computing (HPC) and its applications in multiple fields of science and engineering and to foster new collegial friendships and partnerships among the international presenters and attendees. The expense-paid program will benefit scholars from European and U.S. institutions who currently use HPC to conduct research.

CSC Summer School brings together undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in different disciplines of scientific computing. The contents consist of lectures and hands-on training on parallel programming, code optimization and other necessary skills in high-performance computing.

This course by Dr Martin Morgan covers R/Bioconductor functionality for several aspects of next generation sequencing data analysis, ranging from RNA-seq and ChIP-seq data analysis to variant annotation. The course consists of lectures and hands-on exercises, and it is targeted for people who already have experience with the R statistical programming language.
