CSC Primer
The course introduces scientists to CSC's server environment. The course program is aimed to attendants that have not been working on a UNIX/Linux system before. UNIX-specific concepts, such as user groups, file permissions, environment variables and basic shell commands will be explained. Information on CSC specific issues such as data storage concepts, job management systems, system setup for using different software packages as well as the Scientist's Interface will be provided. The main focus of the course will be on hands-on examples of which every participant can join individually. At the end of this one day course the user should be able to effectively use all CSC's services.

Course material is handed out at the beginning of the course. Computers are provided by the CSC. Nevertheless, if the attendee wishes, she/he can bring her/his own laptop.
