High Performance CFD Simulations with OpenFOAM
This seminar will describe the structure and capabilities of OpenFOAM
numerical library for Continuum Mechanics simulations. The presentation
will be held by Dr. Hrvoje Jasak from Wikki Ltd London, UK.
Written in
C++ and using an object-oriented approach, OpenFOAM provides a flexible
simulation platform by mimicking the form of partial differential
equations in software. The library provides extensive capabilities in
pre-configured solvers, utilities and libraries, with massive
parallelism in a domain decomposition model. OpenFOAM is freely
available and open source, licensed under the GNU General Public
Licence.
A combination of object-orientation and high performance computing
poses a number of requirements in software design. The approach and
implementation details adopted in OpenFOAM will be examined. The talk
will be completed with several examples of OpenFOAM use high end in
Large Eddy and free surface flow simulations.
