Introduction to Python

Python is a modern, object-oriented programming language, which has become popular in several areas of software development. This course introduces the basic concepts of the Python programming language. The participants shall learn usage of simple Python data and control structures as well as how to read and write data to files  together with simple text processing.

The course consists of lectures and hands-on exercises.

Prerequisites

Participants are expected to know basic programming concepts (e.g. variables, statements, control structures, subroutines) but previous knowledge of Python is not assumed.

  • Introduction to Python

  • Data types and expressions

  • Control structures

  • Functions and modules

  • Text processing
