Scientific Visualization
Scientific visualization, sometimes referred to as visual data analysis, uses the graphical representation of data as a means of gaining understanding and insight into the data. It is more and more important in scientific research of today, since datasets are growing at an extremely rapid pace.
This course, by Kitware, provides a hands-on overview of the ParaView visualization application. The basic interactive visual exploration process is demonstrated, including data loading, data processing, adjusting parameters and data interaction. Key concepts such as cutting, clipping, contouring, probing, and glyphing are discussed in this course. This course provides examples of generating output in the form of processed data, rendered images, and animations.
The ParaView suite is an Open Source application freely available for multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac) and available also at CSC's computing servers.
