The right for international use is enlarged
17.02.2010
Researchers from aboard can in the future more easily use CSC’s resources.
Finnish academic research groups often have members or collaborators aboard. Now their rights to use CSC’s computational resources have been defined more exactly. In practice, this definition allows them the right for use on certain conditions.
The right to use CSC’s resources can be granted for international use provided that, e.g., the following terms are valid:
* The research must be public.
* The project manager (principal investigator) should be working in Finland and he has to have the right to use CSC's resources (e.g., a professor in a Finnish university).
* The funding of the researcher working abroad, to whom the right for international use is being applied for, comes from an organization equivalent to a Finnish university or polytechnic.
* The results (knowledge, experience, publications) of the international use should benefit research groups in Finland.
The right for international use of a researcher working abroad is valid for a fixed period.

The applications are handled by CSC Resource Allocation Group, which assembles every three to five weeks.
