CSC part of eInfraNet – aiming to integrate e-infrastructures in Europe and beyond

A three-year project, eInfraNet (European Network for co-ordination of policies and programmes on e-infrastructures) aiming to integrate e-infrastructures in Europe and beyond, kicked off on 27th –28th of January in Dublin, Ireland.
The aim of eInfraNet is to create a policy body that will develop and strengthen cooperation and coordination between national e-infrastructure programmes, ensuring their smooth and efficient integration in the European Research Area.
The vision of eInfraNet is to be high-level policy body developing policies to reinforce and coordinate efforts to foster world-class ICT infrastructures.
The project will investigate the following key areas: Cloud computing, Green IT, and Openness.
CSC is the Finnish representative of the project and will collaborate with eight other countries: Ireland (project coordinator), United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, Latvia, Spain, Hungary, and Turkey.

“There is a need for strengthening the collaboration in e-infrastructure policies and services both on the national and international level. We need to share experiences and unify policies to strengthen the societal impact of e-infrastructures. CSC is pleased to participate in eInfraNet, which provides an important platform to discuss joint activities in tight collaboration with the European Commission.”
The project receives funding from the EU's Seventh Framework Programme.
