Modeling, simulation, statistical and other methods for analyzing data, and the use of databases are scientific methods supplementing empirical and theoretical research. Modeling and simulation can be used to investigate phenomena that cannot be studied empirically, for instance, because they are too dangerous or because the test arrangements are too expensive. Simulation is a way of seeking corroboration for theoretical hypotheses.
Methods of computational science
Computational science includes, among other things, the modeling of a phenomenon, the development and implementation of new solution methods, and the presentation of results using various approaches.
