If you don't have a user account at CSC, you can print out necessary application forms in pdf format below. Send your user account application to CSC at:

Scientific services

Scientific services offered by CSC are listed below. The user account also includes text editor, www and news services as well as home directory and archiving services. Your user account is opened by default at CSC's application  server (hippu.csc.fi), with a limited amount of CPU time. You can apply the following scientific services with this form:

• Scientist's User Interface i.e. CSC's extranet service
• Chipster DNA microarray data analysis software
• CrossFire chemistry databases (only for consortium members)
• PERCH software (NMR chemistry)

Computing and application software usage

Computing and application software usage requires that a computing project will be opened using the form below. One project typically includes 1-10 user accounts. You may choose the computing servers which your  project members need access to:

• Cray XT4/XT5 massive parallel supercomputer (louhi.csc.fi)
• Supercluster HP CP4000 BL (vuori.csc.fi)
• Supercluster HP CP4000 BL (murska.csc.fi)
  
• Application server HP ProLiant DL785 G5 (hippu.csc.fi)

Use of these servers consume project quota. Most of the application software and databases are installed on these servers.  You may have to agree to follow service specific terms and conditions for your use of application software and databases. For massive parallel computing see specific instructions below. The user account also includes access to Scientist's User Interface, text editor, www and news services as well as home directory and archiving services.

You can use this application form also to add new members to your existing computing project or update project information.

Database service

CSC's new database service provides researchers a possibility to create their own MySQL databases. The application form for the database service always relates to customer's computing project (instructions above). See user instructions at database service pages.

Massive parallel computing

For massive parallel computing the applicant must establish the scalability of the used program. To be able to run the necessary scalability tests you need a valid user account on preferred CSC computer (apply with the form above). More information at rinnakkaislaskenta at csc.fi.

Grid usage

Grid usage is possible by applying for a server certificate and authorized access to grid networks provided by CSC (e.g. M-grid, NorduGrid, PRACE).
