The choice of solutions depends on the locations and existence of national and international academic networking services, as well as on the capacity need and other technical factors.

Light path service is available in many locations in Finland, and the availablity expands further during 2009 and 2010.

The implementation of the lightpath is agreed between CSC/Funet, the end user, and end user's home organization.  If one of the endpoints resides outside Finland, coordination with international parties (NORDUnet, Géant network, remote NREN)  is handled by and via CSC/Funet.
