The figure shows a snapshot of the displacement of an elastic beam subject to increasing g-force on the whole volume. The material of the beam was assumed homogeneous and isotropic (plane stress). The analysis was based on the transient non-linear elasticity equations (large deformations and displacements), which ElmerSolver linearized and solved by Newton's method and quadratic quadrilateral finite elements.
