Free surface between two non-mixing liquids

The figure shows velocity vectors and and the steady state position of the free surface between two non-mixing liquids with differing material parameters. The liquids enter the computational domain on the left both in their own pipes which open to a larger common pipe some way into the domain. The flow of both liquids was assumed incompressible. The ElmerSolver uses a stabilized finite element formulation to solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. In this simulation bilinear quadrilateral finite elements were used.
