This page offers a general overview to current status of the SOMA2 development. In addition, a roadmap and history of the SOMA2 development are presented.

Current Status

The latest stable release of SOMA2 modelling environment is version 1.4 Aluminium, which was released on 31st of January 2012.

Development Roadmap

Long term development roadmap contains the following functionalities and improvements:

• Expansion of SOMA2 XML schema and SOMA2 user interface module to enable more intelligent program configuration web forms.
• Changes in SOMA2 user interface to be able to describe multiple execution hosts for a program in a single capsule.
• Enabling different layouts for the program configuration forms. The layout would be adjustable by the user.
• More advanced use and handling of the services, which in most cases are already written in the capsule XML descriptions. For example, users would be able to choose a service instead of choosing just a program name.
  
• Improvements in the user interface and the data handling logic to enable construction of more complex workflows.
• Enabling a two-way communication in program configuration forms. User would be able to switch between web form and the actual program configuration file(s).
