Vuori has local disks for system files and computational data. The most important one for Vuori users is the Lustre file system where all users
have a personal work directory specified by the $WRKDIR variable. Most
computational work should be done in $WRKDIR for performance
reasons. In some cases, especially when dealing with small files, a node local, limited size $TMPDIR might be a bit faster. Users are encouraged to do some experiments for their own use cases. The node local 10K SAS disk has about 110GB for $TMPDIR usage.
Lustre is a production ready parallel file system developed by Cluster File Systems, Inc and later by Sun Microsystems/Oracle. It is a high-performance file system designed to handle huge I/O demands of parallel programs.
Vuori Lustre disk system total capacity is 45 TB. Lustre disk system is connected to other parts of Vuori using the high-speed InfiniBand network.
