Vuori has a theoretical peak performance of Rpeak = 33.9 Tflops, not counting in the service nodes handling the logins and I/O, and the Linpack performance of Rmax = 26,5 Tflops (with 272 compute nodes). This gives the sustainable performance of 78%. Vuori has total 296 compute nodes plus eight GPGPU nodes, 272 of those is having two six-core 2.6 GHz AMD Opteron 64-bit processors and dedicated memory of 1.33 GB for 1536 cores and 2.66 GB for 1728 cores. The Opteron processors that perform the actual computations are well suited for high performance computing. System performance is enhanced by using the InfiniBand 4x DDR interconnect to provide low latencies and high throughput for internode communications. 24 big memory nodes were added in December 2011 (96 GB/node, 8 GB/core). Big memory nodes have two six-core 2.66GHz Intel X5650 64-bit processors.
In addition to traditional compute nodes, Vuori has eight NVidia Tesla GPGPU nodes for GPU HPC computing and 2 service nodes, used for logins, I/O and other service usage. Vuori also has 145 TB of local fast Lustre disk reserved to be used as temporary work space and for user applications.
Physically Vuori consists of 5 computing cabinets with 15 blade enclosures and each blade enclosure containing 16 compute blades. One additional cabinet contains the service nodes and networking elements. High speed interconnect is build from 9 Voltaire 36 port InfiniBand 4x QDR switches. Each blade enclosure also has one 32 port InfiniBand DDR switch. 16 blades of an enclosure are connected to the local 32 port InfiniBand switch. Their connection to the main InfiniBand switch is a 2:1 oversubscription. GPGPU and big memory nodes are HP SL390s G7 servers which are connected directly to the Infiniband 4x QDR swithes.
Lustre disk system has 2 cabinets for SAS disks in Hitachi AMS 2500 modular storage.
There is a 2 metadata servers and 20 object storage servers in Vuori's Lustre distributed file system configuration.
