EMBRACE is a Network of Excellence funded by the Sixth EU Framework Programme, aiming to advance European bioinformatics services through grid technologies. By integrating the major bioinformatics databases and software tools EMBRACE works to enable efficient workflow applications and adding functionality to other applications. This will also reduce the maintenance load at local computing centers.

CSC’s role in the collaboration

The five-year EMBRACE project was started in 2005. CSC’s role in the project is especially focused on evaluation and monitoring of integration technologies. CSC will also implement a software interface to the PairsDB protein database released in cooperation with the University of Helsinki
