Installing just Discovery Studio 3.1 client in WindowsDiscovery Studio 3.1 Installation

Before starting the installation check following things:

1. make sure that your machine meets the requirements
2. make sure that your research group has approved and signed the Accelrys usage license of CSC
   
3. send the IP-address of your machine to Kimmo.Mattila@csc.fi
   

You can install Disocvery Studio to your local computer on two ways:

1. Install the complete package (client and server) to your local computer.

This requires some disk space (about 4 GB) but after the installation all the tools run in your local computer and you do not have to worry about connecting to remoter servers.

• Installing client and server to a linux machine
• Installing client and server to a Windows machine

2. Install just a client and use a remote Discovery Studio server

Installing only the Discovery Studio client is easier and requires significantly less disk space (about 300 MB). However, when using this option you have to connect to a remote Discovery Studio server, for example the one running at CSC, to be able to use all the tools and protocols.

ABOUT LICENSING

On 2012 the  license of CSC  covers all the protocols available in Discovery Studio.
