FreeNX

Remote Desktop for fast remote graphics from CSC s servers

Description

The NoMachine Client and FreeNX server enable a fast graphical work from CSC to your local computer. This makes using GUIs fluent. The idea is to connect to nxlogin.csc.fi with the NoMachine client (free) installed at your computer (available for Win, Mac, Linux) and within CSC connect with ssh from nxlogin.csc.fi to the server where you want do do your science e.g. run Matlab or VMD. The FreeNX server has been installed on nxlogin.csc.fi. The speedup vs. X11 (native or emulated) is 10-100 fold, so you will experience substantial improvement. Note that with NoMachine/FreeNX you don't need X-emulators or X-term (in Linux).FreeNX schema
