R is a language and environment that has become one of the most popular tools for data analysis. Particularly in recent years a large part of the popularity has been due to the powerful user interface called RStudio, and the related collection of packages called 'tidyverse' by the same developers. This collection includes pacakges such as ggplot2 for graphics and tidyr and dplyr for data wrangling. This course focuses on these.

Concepts related to statistical literacy are also reviewed in this context.

Learning outcomes

After the course the participant will be familiar with most of the techniques and methods covered in the cheatsheets at https://www.rstudio.com/resources/cheatsheets/ called Data transformation with dplyr and Data visualisation with ggplot2, and parts of those in RStudio IDE cheatsheet.

Who should join this course?

Basic knowledge of R programming is expected. The contents and level of the previous Bioweek R course day, https://www.csc.fi/web/training/-/r-for-beginners is suitable. You can learn the contents on your own, or check that you have the knowledge already: it is not required to participate.
Those who do take the beginner course on the previous day are welcome, but the pace on this course will be somewhat faster.

Note: if you have taken an R course at CSC or by the lecturers recently, this course will be only partially new content for you, and partially repeating. Please feel free to contact seija.sirkia@csc.fi for details.

Program
The programme is flexible, but starting at 9:00. There will be one coffee break in the morning, a lunch break, and another coffee break in the afternoon. The course will end roughly at 16:30
