What we are doing:

The objective of the BIOMIT project is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from industry by developing measurement solutions for the optimization of bioenergy production and mining processes. The aim is also to reduce the environmental impacts of industry by developing solutions for water management in the process industry and mines as well as new methods for efficient utilization of Kainuu area biomasses and their lateral flows in accordance with the principles of circular economy. The project has been prepared closely with all major companies in Kainuu. The BIOMIT project is co-ordinated by the University of Oulu and the other partners are VTT Technical Research Center of Finland and CSC - IT Center for Science Ltd.

CEMIS (Center for Measurement and Information Systems) is a joint contract-based research and training center of two universities (University of Oulu and University of Jyväskylä), two research and service organizations (VTT and CSC) and Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. CEMIS has prepared development project plans for 2017-2018. CEMIS seeks financing for four parallel projects aimed at developing new technology solutions (BIOMIT) for Kainuu's bio-economy and measurement technology companies, reliable measurement methods for the environmental impact of mines and industrial processes (KAIMIT), to bring international technology business to Kainuu (KANTELI) and new product and service solutions sports, wellness and health (LIIKUTPA project).
