Career Survey for polytechnics graduates launched again

The career survey is aimed at polytechnic graduates who finished their degree five years ago, in 2014.

The data collection is carried out during October-November using Arvo, an Education Management Information Service maintained and developed by CSC.

The survey was launched on October 15, when a link was sent via SMS to nearly 27,000 alumni. In the beginning of October, a similar message was sent to the university Masters graduates of 2014 and the university PhD graduates of 2016.

The surveys for the polytechnic and university alumni are designed to collect information on graduates' employment and the satisfaction with their career and degree.

Knowledge of the first career years of the higher education graduates is very important. Universities and polytechnics use the data gathered in developing their education offering. Prospective and current students benefit from the results when planning their studies.

Previous career surveys show for example, that 80% of graduates of polytechnics are quite satisfied, satisfied or very satisfied with their degree.

Satisfaction with the degree is very closely linked to how well the respondent is able to utilise the knowledge gained in the polytechnic in one's current job and how the job corresponds to the skills one has  gained through studies.

The results of the 2018 Career Survey (in Finnish) can be accessed at the education administration's reporting portal, Vipunen. The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish National Agency for Education are jointly responsible for its content.
