EOSC-Nordic

European Open Science Cloud Nordic

EOSC-Nordic aims to facilitate the coordination of EOSC (European Open Science Cloud)-relevant initiatives within the Nordic and Baltic countries and exploit synergies to achieve greater harmonisation in policy and service provisioning across these countries, in compliance with EOSC agreed standards and practices. By doing so, the project seeks to establish the Nordic and Baltic countries as front runners in the take-up of the EOSC concept, principles and approach.

EOSC-Nordic brings together a strong consortium of 24 partners including e-Infrastructure providers, research performing organisations and expert networks, with national mandates in regards to the provision of research services and open science policy and wide experience in engaging with the research community and mobilising national governments, funding agencies, international bodies, global initiatives and high-level experts on EOSC strategic matters.

CSC is actively engaged in various activities within the project, in particular concerning open science policies & resource provisioning, sustainability, service provisioning, FAIR data, and communications. It has an overall effort of 102 PMs including two work package leads (Policies, legal issues, and sustainability & Communications, training and outreach)

CSC cooperates with and has facilitated the participation of several Finnish research organisations and HEIs such as HY, UTA/FSD, FMI, and the UEF. By participating in this project, these organisations now have a direct influence on the EOSC agenda, and can benefit from the expertise coming from other regions and propose and test solutions & technologies for advancing open science.

A successful EOSC-Nordic will reinforce Nordic research area capability and competitiveness, create a profile of a leading knowledge-based region, increase the ability of the region to attract talent and investments, enhance its appeal as a partner in cooperation, and strengthen the Nordic region and its efforts in the overall EOSC, through the creation of a cross-border cooperation model for Europe.

At CSC, EOSC Nordic project is part of the EOSC programme.
