Janne Ignatius from CSC elected as Vice-Chair for PRACE Council

Dr. Janne Ignatius, Program Director at CSC, was unanimously elected as Vice-Chair for PRACE Council (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe). The voting took place at the PRACE Council meeting on 18 June 2018 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and came into effect immediately.

PRACE is the European high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure and has 25 member countries.

– PRACE is of utmost importance in advancing science in all areas where top-level HPC is the central instrument for research. I will work for the benefit of all PRACE member countries, and for HPC in Europe in the changing landscape, says Ignatius.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Lippert, Director of Jülich Supercomputing Centre at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, was elected as Chair for the PRACE Council.

The Chair and Vice-Chair each serve terms of a maximum of two years. Ignatius will still continue as the Finnish delegate in the PRACE Council.
