International collaboration

As research is more and more happening in large international collaborations, it is crucial that we at CSC develop services in close cooperation with research communities and our European peers to facilitate the participation of Finnish researchers in international collaborations. CSC's international cooperation is of direct benefit to research teams in Finland. The services with added value, such as world-class computing capacity and data services are available to Finnish researchers through the research infrastructures and projects CSC participates in. This is a success factor in enhancing competitiveness, performance and quality of Finnish science and research.

The benefit of doing development work collaboratively in an international context creates opportunities for scalability, interoperability and knowledge transfer. Collaboration with research communities improves bi-directional skills and knowledge transfer across boundaries. CSC is actively involved in bringing the Finnish view into defining and developing common standards and policies on international level, thus influencing developments that will eventually influence us. CSC's international collaboration promotes and bolsters both national and international collaboration and enhances Finland's impact on the political level.

Our mandate is to keep Finland at the cutting edge and we proactively seek out innovations and new services through international cooperation to benefit our customers. CSC is a partner in many international RDI projects and we systematically monitor new international RDI funding opportunities.

RDI activities

We take part in nearly 50 externally funded R&D projects together with our partners. This collaboration brings direct benefits to Finland as it enables us to offer state-of-the-art services, such as world-class computing capacity and data services, directly to Finnish researchers. In addition, the projects allow us to bring Finnish views into international discussions on common standards and policies. This enhances the competitiveness, performance and quality of Finnish science, and society at large.

Research infrastructure programmes

Many of our R&D projects are part of our larger research infrastructure programmes, such as ELIXIR, EOSC and EuroHPC. These infrastructures offer high quality solutions for Finnish researchers and enable us to find new collaboration opportunities and partnerships with present and potential customers to develop new services.
