Research, Development & Innovation Activities

CSC proactively seeks out opportunities to innovate and develop new services for our customers. To fulfill our special task to support the higher education and research we systematically monitor what can be future key technologies and services, and we initiate and take part in collaborative R&D projects at the cutting edge to benefit of research and education. CSC seeks much of its external Research, Development & Innovation (RDI) funding from Academy of Finland, Business Finland, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (H2020), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC).

We take part in nearly 50 externally funded RDI projects together with our partners. This collaboration brings direct benefits to Finland as it enables us to offer state-of-the-art services, such as world-class computing capacity and data services, directly to the researchers. In addition, the projects allow us to bring our stakeholders’ views into international discussions on common standards and policies. All with the aim to enhance the competitiveness, performance and quality of European science, and society at large.

Arrowhead Tools

The Arrowhead Tools project aims for digitalisation and automation solutions for the European industry by introducing new technologies in an open source platform for the design and run-time engineering of IoT and System of Systems.

EOSC Enhance is a 24-month project funded by the European Commission and tasked with progressing the vision for the European Open Science Cloud. The project will improve and enhance the discoverability of scientific services and data resources by further developing and widening the EOSC catalogue.

EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC (EU-OS), the European Research Infrastructure Consortium for Chemical Biology, provides access to a distributed network of national screening and chemistry facilities, a common database, and a central headquarter that manages the joint compound collection and coordinates project flow and training.
