The aim of the workshop is to familiarize participants with R and QGIS software and to go through the entire spatial modelling process with these tools. The workshop is targeted especially for those who want to switch from ArcGIS and SPSS to open-access software and from linear regression to generalized linear models (GLM). Biogeographical variables, examination of spatial auto-correlation and advanced modelling methods will also be looked at. Also using CSC supercomputers for spatial analysis with R is shortly covered on third day.
Prerequisistes:
- Basics of spatial data and geoinformatics
- Basic use of any GIS tool (ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS etc)
- Earlier experience with R or QGIS is not needed.
