Parallel Programming with MPI - Training
|Päiväys:||26.03.2013 9:00 - 28.03.2013 17:00|
Pekka Manninen (CSC)
This course is a walk-through on the most important features of the de-facto standard approach to parallel programming: Message Passing Interface (MPI). The course consists of lectures and hands-on programming exercises, progressing on a relaxed pace and atmosphere.
After the course the participants will understand the MPI approach and should be able to parallelize serial programs with MPI and to modify and extend existing MPI codes. They will also be aware of the most important MPI-2 functions together with glimpses on the upcoming implementations of the MPI 3.0 standard.
PrerequisitesNo prior knowledge on MPI or parallel programming will be required, but the participants have to have a working knowledge in Fortran and/or C programming languages. Also ability to operate in a Unix/Linux environment will be assumed.
- Message-passing programming model
- MPI point-to-point communication
- Collective communication
- Non-blocking communication
- User-defined communicators
- Communication topologies
- User-defined datatypes
- MPI I/O
- Performance considerations
Note that this is only a plan; it will be possible to slow down or speed up the agenda.
