This international workshop covers several aspects of RNA-seq data analysis, ranging from quality control, assembly and alignment to differential expression analysis and miRNA-mRNA integration. Particular emphasis is given to comparison of different analysis tools. The program consists of two lecture days and four optional hands-on sessions.
Accelerators such as GPUs have broken through in today's HPC architectures. This course covers the more advanced topics in GPU programming with the CUDA language and the new OpenACC standard for directive-based accelerator programming. The course will focus on improving the performance and the scalability of GPU codes by analyzing them with performance tools, identifying bottlenecks, and making algorithm adjustments.

Over 20 cloud pilots have been established during 2011-2013 between CSC - IT Center for Science and leading biomedical science use cases with the support of the Finnish Research Infrastructure programme (FIRI) for ELIXIR ESFRI. The event discusses the scalability of the ELIXIR Finland cloud services and aims to increase organisational co-operation and specialisation.

Introduction to Fortran 95/2003 is an introduction to one of the most used programming languages in HPC. It provides the basic knowledge of modern Fortran programming and a solid base for further considerations.
The course consist of two parts (i.e. days). The first day focus on the particle based methods, algorithms and implementations for the simulation of strongly non-linear mechanics like fragmentation, glacier calving, growth, granular material, etc.. The second day is devoted to dynamics of plasmas and various methods for simulating the dynamics of interstellar matter, the Earth's magnetosphere, fusion plasma and stars. Lecturers are national and international top-level scientists within their own field of research.

Debugging is inevitable when developing software, and parallelism adds another layer of complexity on top of it. A good parallel debugger, such as Totalview, is a very important tool for development of scientific software. This workshop is an introduction to debugging parallel software with TotalView and MemoryScape and ReplayEngine utilities available on CSC's Cray XC30 supercomputer Sisu and HP Proliant SL230s supercluster Taito.
