AARC – the Authentication and Authorisation for Research and Collaboration

Funding source: H2020

Project duration: 1.5.2017 – 30.4.2019

Project website: https://aarc-project.eu/

What we are doing:

The AARC2 (the Authentication and Authorisation for Research and Collaboration) project will improve the adoption of federated access among different communities and help to avoid a future in which different e-infrastructures and research collaborations develop and operate independent AAIs . The AARC2 project is continuation to the first AARC project which ended in 2017.

In practice, the project helps researchers to use e-infrastructures such as PRACE, EGI and EUDAT.  The AARC2 project enables the Finnish researchers to access research and e-infrastructure services easier, with a single set of credentials and potentially single sign-on. The project also makes it easier for Finnish research service providers to manage access to their services. The Finnish research service providers can participate in the project through the pilots in AARC2 project.

As a linked third party of the ELIXIR hub, CSC manages the pilot on Life Science AAI, a common authentication and authorization service for European life science research infrastructures. CSC is also developing specifications for the authentication assurance levels.
