CORBEL – Coordinated Research Infrastructures Building Enduring Life-science Services
Funding source: H2020
Project duration: 1.9.2015 – 1.8.2019
Project website: www.corbel-project.eu
What we are doing:
The CORBEL project will develop the tools, services and data management required by cutting-edge European research projects in life-sciences, and the objective of the project is to create a pan-European research infrastructure for biological information. The project started in September 2015, and it will build on existing efforts within the BioMedBridges project. The project is coordinated by ELIXIR.
The project will benefit biologists and software developers alike, for example by providing consistent identifiers to biological samples so they can be mapped to relevant molecular and imaging data. The technical work in CORBEL will underpin progress in endeavours such as grid infrastructure, pharmacology infrastructure, biological and medical imaging infrastructure and translational medicine initiatives. CORBEL is a four-year project funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
"In the CORBEL project, CSC will deliver federated authentication and access solution to data service providers in the biomedical and life science domain. We will do this by improving interoperability between the scientific service providers, and by leveraging existing investments in European e-infrastructures like GÉANT, EUDAT and EGI.eu to build capacities for the scientific community. The AARC project also supports this goal", says Tommi Nyrönen from CSC & Head of Node, ELIXIR Finland.
